Since 1814 Danish parish registers have had preprinted headings. If you have the translation for the headings, you may be able to find your ancestor's record yourself. The headings were changed several times as the requirements for the amount of information was changed. Furthermore, the headings varied slightly between Denmark proper and those used in Schleswig (now Sourthern Denmark). In this post I provide a translation of the headings in marriage records from Southern Denmark from the mid-1800s. I plan to post translations of other headings in the future.

Translation of the Column Headings
- Number
- The bridegroom's name, age, occupation and residence
- The bride's name, age, occupation and residence
- Sponsors
- Marriage day
- Whether the marriage was performed in the church or at home and in case of the latter, the date of the permission
- Where listed in the regular index
